Rapper
Edem, has advised his colleague rappers not to focus on winning awards, most
especially, the ‘Hip-hop Artiste of the Year’ category for the VGMAs.
According
to him, all rappers are talented so that category shouldn’t be the yardstick in
determining who the best is in hip-hop.
He made this known to host of After-E,
Nealyon on Spyderlee Entertainment TV at an event organized by Feli Nuna on
Saturday when the host asked how he felt after not being nominated for this
year’s ‘Hip-hop Artiste of the Year’ in the VGMAs.
‘It’s a year under review, that’s why they said hip pop
artiste of the year. They didn’t say hip-hop artiste of the lifetime. And aside
that, with what i know, as a hip-hop artiste i don’t think that anybody should
be able to judge anybody as a rapper.
We are all super talented in our own
rights; Flowking is a super talent, Joey B, Pappy Kojo, Teephlow, Sarkodie, EL
et al. So that category is not a category that artistes like us who believe in
artistry should take as a world cup but then you should be grateful when you
win it,’ he said
